The Rayleigh Dutch House & Garden – Fay Laflin has been living at The Dutch Cottage in Rayleigh for a number of years and with the help of Ron Coutts they have been maintaining the garden. Fay will talk about the challenges of house and garden in the past and the plans for it in the future.

A History of Essex Pub Signs – Keith has a love of all things historical and his talk centres around Essex Pub Signs, the stories behind the names and ‘goings-on’ in their locales.

Peter Layzell

Rural Essex in Victorian & Edwardian Times – Peter is an ex-policeman and a teacher in adult education. His talk today uses newspaper articles to describe everyday life during late Victorian and early Edwardian times in Essex.

Penny Poppins

Life as a Lady Chimney Sweep – If you were a woman, would you have chosen chimney sweeping as your career? We will find out what made it so attractive for Penny.

Maz Morgan

Gardens of the Cape – This talk is based on Maz’s memories of her holidays spent wandering around the beautiful botanical gardens of the Cape. We followed her adventures in Japan a few years ago. She always brings the funny side of life to her sessions.

Olive & Thelma

Warley Place, Past & Present – Olive & Thelma are local experts on Warley Place and will be sharing some stories of it, both past and present, with us.

Propagation of Pelargoniums – The easy to understand how – when – and why of propagating pelargoniums.

Q & A All Things Horticultural – The ‘Boys’ will be sitting in front of members answering questions and queries of a horticultural nature. If you have a question to raise beforehand, please hand it in at the store and we will add to the list on the day.
